The Market Design programme was established in the year 2000 to examine the challanges surrounding the liberalisation of the Swedish electricity market. Through the years the focus of our work has widened to include not only Sweden but also international experience and debates.
Market Design runs in three-year periods. Its fourth phase will run between 2010 and 2013.
Objective
Research conducted within the Market Design is meant to contribute towards the improvement of the functioning and efficiency of the Nordic electricity markets by contributing to the development of the necessary market instruments and regulatory framework. Market Design does this by funding research and by facilitating dialog between the different stakeholders.
Research
At the start of each three-year period, Market Design's board decides on the research themes that will be prioritized during the forthcoming period. After a Call for Projects, the Board decides which projects to fund and sets out the research agenda.
