From the start, Market Design focused solely on the Swedish electricity market. However, as time progressed, Market Design's focus inevitably widened to envelop the Nordic markets, sometimes even the European. Our aim in this fourth stage is to take this development even further, by continuing to emphasize the European perspective.
The main four working areas for Market Design's fourth phase will be:
- Integration of the Nordic electricity markets with those of the rest of Europe.
- The effects of climate and energy policy measures on the function of the electricity markets, and the need for regulatory changes in order to maintain an efficient market.
- The effects on the electricity market of new methods of metering, monitoring and control.
- The status of consumers on the electricity market.
